The Municipal Building Committee met on Wednesday, Aug. 21, to discuss the renovations being done to the town’s library.
According to Public Facilities Director Timothy Chouinard, “Richard Memorial Library project is coming close to being finished. Right now, a lot of the roof work is done, and there are some minor finishes that have to be done on top.”
“The ramp is graded and everything so they’re going to be pouring the new ramp in the front in the next couple of weeks.”
The cost for this work is estimated at $986,370, with $12,180.19 of the total being from the FY 2024 free cash budget. The budget for this work includes $452,000 in contingency funding in the event the work goes over what has been allocated.
Some of the work to be done at the library includes fixing the wheelchair ramp due to water from the ramp going towards the library, as well as replacing windows.
Chouinard continued by explaining how there is still some drainage work to be done on the north side of the building, but is targeting a Sept. 30 completion date.
“I believe we are going to run over it a little bit because some of the electrical components are set to ship on Sept. 30, and we have to wait for them to be received and installed so we are expecting some components of that project to be further than the deadline but i don’t think there will be too much concerned about that,” Chouinard concluded.
