North Attleborough senior Frankie Strachan has been named the 2025 HockomockSports.com Football Player of the Year, following a dominant season that helped the Rocketeers earn a share of the Davenport division title and make their second consecutive appearance in the Division 3 state finals at Gillette Stadium.

For Frankie Strachan, the honor was a meaningful way to cap his football career at North Attleborough, though he was quick to credit his teammates for their role.

“I was pretty excited,” he said, recalling waking up to the news via a text message from a friend. “All of the offseason work and work during the season paid off, but I definitely couldn’t have done it alone.”

“Frankie had a monster season for the Rocketeers,” said HockomockSports.com Editor Ryan Lanigan in an announcement on the site. “Every single team had a game plan centered around trying to stop him, and no one was able to do it. It usually took two or three guys just to tackle him, and he still continued to find success handoff after handoff. He was also a terrific defensive player at linebacker.”

North Attleborough Athletic Director Nick Schlierf said earning the Player of the Year recognition carries added significance, given the level of competition in the Hockomock League.

“NAHS is fortunate to be a member of the Hockomock League, arguably one of the strongest leagues of schools in the state,” said Schlierf. “To have a player chosen in a given sport as league Player of the Year truly means something special because of the pool of talent in our league.”

Schlierf added that Frankie’s impact extended beyond the field, describing him as an exceptional student and leader within the school community.

“Frankie is a tremendous human being,” said Schlierf. “He embodies the positive character and values that our school, our coaches, sports programs and our athletic department aim to instill in each of our students.”

Frankie Strachan delivered one of the most productive seasons in program history, impacting nearly every aspect of the game. He rushed for 1,527 yards on 269 carries with 22 touchdowns, and broke a North Attleborough single-season rushing record that had stood since 1982. He was also voted the Davenport Division Offensive MVP by the league’s coaches.

On defense, he led the Rocketeers with 105 tackles, along with a sack, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, anchoring the unit from his linebacker position.

“He’s been such a dynamic player for us,” said Head Coach Mike Strachan, who is also Frankie’s uncle. “He’s been a leader on offense and defense, had over 1,500 yards, broke the 1982 record and had over 100 tackles. He had a really super year.”

Schlierf credited the football program’s culture and offseason commitment to its continued success, noting that Frankie Strachan is the second consecutive North Attleborough player to earn the honor after running back Ryan Bannon won the award following last season’s state championship victory over Mansfield.

“Our football program develops the whole player and dedication to team above self,” said Schlierf. “It is not surprising for our program that this happened for two players in two years, as we earned the right to the D3 championship in 2024 and 2025.”

Looking back on the season, Frankie said the Rocketeers’ Halloween night win over Foxboro, sealed by a walk-off field goal, stands out as a lasting memory.

“That was special,” he said. “We’ve always been battling with Foxboro coming up through youth, and they usually get the best of us. We hadn’t beaten them since my freshman year.”

Despite finishing the season with a fractured foot in the state championship loss to King Phillip Regional High School, Frankie Strachan said his recovery is going well. He plans to pursue a degree in engineering this fall while continuing to play football at the collegiate level.

“It feels great,” he said of the award. “It’s just a testament to the hard work that not just me, but my teammates, put in during the offseason studying film, and it was great to see it all come full-circle.”
