The Town of North Attleborough invites the community to attend its upcoming ceremony in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The ceremony will begin with a welcome address delivered by Veterans’ Services Officer Scott Smith. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 9 a.m. on the Baptist Church Common.

The National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance will follow, including an opening prayer delivered by Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chaplain Manny Desourdy. State Rep. Adam Scanlon, Fire Chief Christopher Coleman, and Police Chief Richard McQuade will also give remarks.

The DAV and American Legion Auxiliary will oversee the ceremonial laying of the roses. Following the tolling of the ceremonial bell by the North Attleborough Fire Department, a moment of silence will be observed in tribute to all the civilians, first responders, airline staff, Port Authority workers, military workers at the Pentagon, and families who lost loved ones in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. on Sept. 11, 2001.

The ceremony will conclude with the playing of Taps and a closing prayer delivered by Pastor Stephen Trimble of the First Baptist Church.
