The North Attleborough Cultural Council (NACC) will bring fun for the whole family in its second annual Paint North Attleborough Beautiful.
The event will be held on Friday, June 1. Artists will be able to check in at Veterans Park in front of Town Hall at 10 a.m. and have until 2:30 p.m. to complete their art.
From 2-6:30 p.m., a celebration will be held at Veterans Park, with arts and crafts vendors, a DJ, a live concert towards the end of the day, and a food and ice cream truck. There will also be a chainsaw wood carver, who will do two pieces to be raffled off or sold, as well as someone from the Rhythm Room that will teach kids how to drum.
“On our website we list things they can paint… but they can basically go anywhere they want within North Attleborough,” said Kali DiMarco, one of the organizers of the event.
The artists are allowed to choose any medium that they prefer. Last year’s Paint North Attleborough Beautiful included drawing and watercolors. Sam Gordon, the second-place winner last year, even created a quilt of the town gazebo.
The artist who wins first place receives $200, the second-place winner receives $100 and the third place winner receives $50. Those winners will be chosen at the close of the event.
This year, the NACC is hoping to see more participation and to expand the event.
“We’re hoping by adding these things it’s just a day filled with art in the park,” said Kali.
After the first Paint North Attleborough Beautiful, Churchwood Gallery at Preservation Framer displayed the artwork. This year, all the artwork from Paint North Attleborough Beautiful will be displayed there throughout June. There will be a people’s choice winner on June 27 at a closing reception at the gallery.
“We’re asking people to stop by the gallery and vote for their favorite piece,” said Ralph DiMarco, also an organizer of the event.
The DiMarcos hope to continue to grow this event until it is a yearly art festival that appreciates the artists of North Attleborough.
