Amvet Boulevard gets a new principal
A former Norton educator is making the move to North Attleborough.
Kristine Kefor, who served as assistant principal and Early Childhood Coordinator at the J.C. Solmonese Elementary School, has been making the rounds at the Amvet Boulevard School following her hiring as the new principal.
“I look forward to meeting more people, students and their families,” she said at a School Committee meeting on Aug. 5. “I felt the whole process was warm and genuine.”
In an e-mail, Kefore said she was seeking to advance her career and that North Attleborough has a great reputation as a place to live, work, and be educated.
“When the job at Amvet Boulevard School became available, I jumped at the opportunity,” she wrote.
Kefor began the position on Aug. 8. Superintendent Scott Holcomb said it was the relationships she has built and experience that made her the made her the top choice for the role. Kefore wrote that she has met many of the faculty and parents and they have been very welcoming. She said that the school’s system matches well with her vision for educating all students.
“I strongly believe that every decision made should be based on what is best for children, and the staff at Amvet Boulevard School and my fellow administrative team embrace this sentiment as well,” she said.
Kefor has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Fine Arts from Bridgewater State University and a masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University. She is also working towards a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Bridgewater State University. She said that serving as an elementary principal will present her with opportunities to grow her skill set. She added that the Amvet School is smaller than the one she last worked with, and this is an opportunity to form a strong relationship with the families, students, and staff.
“My new role allows me to utilize skills I’ve learned serving as assistant principal and apply them every day in my new role,” she said.
In addition, the district has also appointed three new vice principals—Lisa Giuliano at the high school, Joseph Lampman at the middle school, and Andrew Benharris at the Community School. Lampman is a three-year resident of North Attleborough and said he has enjoyed getting to know people in town.
“Families with the Community School, they are certainly vested in it,” said Lampman.
