Two North Attleborough High School alums are working to launch their own podcast, inspired shows like “The Jack Benny Program” and “Our Miss Brooks.”

“Crazy World,” created by Ashley Gilmore and Alanna Selbrook, is set to debut in early 2026, and has been in the works for the past two-plus years.

It’s described on the show’s web site as “About an apartment complex where everyone has a complex.”

The show gives listeners the ability to experience the lives of characters categorized into different social normalities and occupations. According to the creators, the concept can be described as covering easily-digestable topics such as self-care, technology and escaping into a new world.

With 24 episodes, the warmhearted cast will make listeners feel part of their lives and the choices they make along the way, according to the creators.

Each episode will be a standalone story, meaning they don’t need to be listened in order of publication. Each character will have their own objectives, gags and personalities, driving them to act the way they do in certain situations. All episodes will consist of three recurring events to model talk radio.

The duo’s vision for their sitcom was to reduce screen time while producing something people could enjoy whenever they can. One important aspect that they hope makes the show stand out is by hiring voice actors to portray their characters.

Beginning back in 2013, Selbrook had the idea for “Crazy World,” but the story of the two best friends starts much earlier.

Going back to their kindergarten years, Selbrook and Gilmore were always finding creative outlets while coming up with extravagant stories and characters. When they went off to college, those ideas had been on hold.

It was 10 years later that Selbrook decided to get Gilmore back to the drawing board. Dedicated to the success and details of the show, they went out and did their own research at a Wild West-themed amusement park to add authenticity into their idea. Eventually, they started A&A studios from the ground up by obtaining an LLC.

Selbrook reminisced on a time where she would have benefitted from listening to a podcast after her job as a graphic designer.

“Because I was looking at a screen all day being a graphic designer, then to go home and have supper and watch TV just felt like I was staring at a screen for my entire life,” she said.

Selbrook has the visuals covered and Gilmore handles the audio due to her time in college where they had a large audio department which she was part of.

“When we want to escape the world we want to laugh,” Gilmore said. “We created what we want(ed) to hear.”

Season one’s overview is below:

‘After Ian breaks up with his ex-girlfriend, he finds solace with his childhood best friend, Joe. Joe and his girlfriend, Mia, invite Ian to stay at their place at Higgins Farm Apartments in the suburbs southwest of Boston. Joe welcomes Ian with open arms, though it is an imposition on the life he and Mia are building. Ian is eternally grateful for his friends’ hospitality and does everything in his power to repay them. Ian’s a talented guy, and he’s certainly helpful around the apartment.

Maybe too helpful.

Two months into this new arrangement, Joe and Mia are concerned their friend’s life is at a standstill and they turn to their friends for advice. Chad, being the nostalgic that he is, suggests bringing Ian to his favorite local attraction: Dusty Creek Wild West Theme Park. The park has seen better days, but it’s about to make Ian’s life better.”

Each episode has a specific theme paired with it, to give listeners that true sitcom full-circle lesson.

“It’s not as heavy as a lot of the shows that are coming out now—that’s what I feel is lacking in TV,” said Selbrook.
