The North Attleborough Farmers Market started its season Wednesday, June 4, bringing locals together to support small businesses and strengthen the community.
With music provided by Bob K Sound and a performance from The Unlikely Strummers, a ukulele band, attendees were able to enjoy both the excitement of vendors and live music.
This year’s market features a weekly scavenger hunt—a search for the market’s new mascot, Bertha the Beet. Those that successfully find the photo of Bertha hidden throughout the market are entered into a raffle drawing.
This week, Bertha brought visitors to the booth of Emely Varosky, author and illustrator of children’s book series, “Skoshie & Friends.”
“I’ve written three children’s books so far, and we have a cat, octopus, and a dragon with positive messages,” Varosky said. “This is kind of a kickoff to the craft fair season, which is very exciting!”
Varosky’s characters all represent important values for younger audiences—optimism, motivation, and ‘me-time.’ Attending events all around southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, she spreads her positive messages across New England.
Where will Bertha be hiding next week? The North Attleboro Farmers Market runs every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in front of Town Hall until Sept. 10.
