Story Time, Ages 0 to 7–Join us in the downstairs meeting room at 10 a.m. for stories, songs, finger play, and a simple craft.
Community Fiber Arts Circle—Come crochet, knit, embroider and weave with fellow fiber crafters. Beginners welcome. There will be no direct teaching of fiber arts, but community guidance and sharing of ideas are greatly encouraged. Work on a project, make new friends, and bounce ideas off of each other. Open to all ages and experience levels (recommended for ages 12- adult). Please call the library (508)-699-0122 and ask for the Reference Desk for more information. This event will take place at 3:30 p.m.
Free tech help—Volunteer Ben Elliott, a computer support specialist, is hosting free IT hours at the library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you need one-on-one help with a laptop, smartphone, or general tech stuff, please schedule an appointment by registering at https://befreeit.org/ or ask library staff for help.
Elliot also offers free tech help at Wrentham’s Fiske Public Library on Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Plainville Public Library on Fridays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Mystery/Thriller Book Group—This group will meet every other month on the first Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to enjoy and discuss contemporary mystery/thriller titles. This month’s book is “The Last Word” by Taylor Adams. Copies of the book will be available at the library about a month ahead of the meeting.
Saturday, May 9
STEAM Cart—STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. There will be a different activity out each day. STEAM cart days are for children ages 3+ with an adult. Activities take place in the Children’s Room, are free play and not librarian led. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The World of Perfume—Join local perfumer and writer John Biebel and scent enthusiast Joseph Morra at 11 a.m. for this fun plunge into four important “notes” used in creating fragrances for spring and summer: rose, vanilla, vetiver and tuberose. Multiple examples of their varied use in fragrances will be discussed, and participants will sample all the scents. Registration recommended.

Tuesday, May 12
Adult Book Group—This month’s read is “Fire Exit” by Morgan Talty. Copies available in the reference area on the first floor. This event will take place at 1:30 p.m.
Friends of the RML annual meeting—The annual meeting of the Friends of the Richards Memorial Library will be at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, May 13

Youth Advisory Council members meeting—The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at the Richards Memorial Library is made up of teens between the ages of 13 and 17 who love to read and share opinions and who would like to be more involved in the library. YAC teens help shape the Young Adult book collection and space, discussing and helping choose books to add to the collection, brainstorming and helping plan programs, putting up displays, etc. YAC runs during the school year from October to May. As a member of YAC students are guaranteed the opportunity to complete their 10 hour community service requirement, as well as opportunities for more hours.
Applications are closed for the school year. Applications for the next school year will open in the late summer.
