After a truck crash forced the closure of its North Attleborough location, repairs are now underway at Box Seats.
Owner Charlie Tgibedes said that the incident, which took place last July, happened when a truck backed into the building, ripping off the exhaust fan. He said the crash was a hit-and-run and security cameras didn’t cover the area where it occurred.
“We didn’t even know who did it,” he said.
The restaurant was closed on July 24 and since then, Tgibedes has worked with his insurance provider and applied for permits with the town to begin repairs. He hopes to reopen within the next few weeks, depending on when the repairs are complete. The business has insurance to cover the bills during the closure.
He added that he has been in contact with his staff—full operations is 20 to 25 employees—and many have expressed an interest in coming back.
“I’m just waiting to get everything done,” Tgibedes said. “I’m not built to be sitting around.”
He added that the community has been very supportive, sending messages via social media or emails asking about the repairs or when the restaurant would reopen.
“I’ve had a lot of people reaching out, which is very encouraging,” he said. “I hope it will be very busy when we’re going to open back up.”
Tgibedes also owns a Box Seats in Franklin, which has been closed since last June when a fire damaged the exhaust system. He said that location is still being assessed and it’s unknown when, or if, it will reopen. Still, he’s hopeful with the news that the North Attleborough location will soon open its doors.
“We’ll be excited to get back open and be able to service the community and guests,” he said.
