North Attleborough Schools have shut down water fountains after being notified of the possibility of a boil-water order for the entire town.
According to a letter sent by Superintendent John Antonucci on Wednesday, the order has not been made official, but it is believed to be forthcoming. In addition to shutting down the fountains, safety protocols have been implemented in all school kitchens.
“We are attempting to secure a supply of bottled water to make available for students, however, supply may be limited,” wrote Antonucci in the letter. “If you are in a position to send in bottled water for your student, we ask that you do so.”
An announcement for a boil water advisory is planned later today.
The Town of Mansfield was under a brief boil water order after eColi bacteria was discovered. That order was lifted following three consecutive tests for the bacteria which came back negative and confirmed by the Mass Department of Environmental Protection.
