The Richards Memorial Library has joined the departments to cancel some in-person events as COVID cases surge upward.
In an announcement made via e-mail, the children’s Time for Tales and North Needlers events scheduled for January have been canceled. Time for Tales is a weekly event for children ages 2-6.
“Please check back with the library website for February events,” the announcement read.
North Attleborough has seen a strong surge of COVID cases, with nearly 200 reported in one week in December. The positivity rate is now at 9.2 percent. Statewide, the more than 12,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported over a seven-day period.
Last week the Senior Center announced that all in-person events would be cancelled and switched to a Zoom format starting this week. For months, the center had been holding events such as Chair Yoga, ukulele classes, fall prevention forums, and more.
“We are doing this out of caution and to limit exposure to our seniors,” Senior Center Executive Director Pamela Hunt said in the announcement.
Senior Center staff will be available during the regular scheduled hours of operation, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-Noon. Meals on Wheels will be delivered and Grab & Go lunches will be available. Staff will bring back Zoom Programs for a two-week period starting on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
