Emma and Charlotte Wymes are more than just sisters—they are sports superstar sisters.
Their sport of choice is lacrosse, and they were recognized for their work by receiving awards throughout the spring and summer.
Charlotte, a junior at Bishop Feehan High School, made the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Team 2 and was selected as one of four defenders in a national lacrosse tournament. During the tournament, which took place in Connecticut she scored three goals from her team’s defensive line.
“I feel so honored be able to be selected by the staff and coaches at the MA/RI tryout,”Charlotte said. “Lacrosse always stuck out to me because of the intensity and the drive that the players I watched had.”
Emma, who will graduate from North Attleborough High School, was nominated to play in the senior game. She was also nominated as a 1st team All -American academic, for Mosses Brown School in Rhode Island. She finished her senior year with 115 points.
Emma is to attend Bryant University as a Division I player in lacrosse. Her sister is undecided on where she would like to go to college but is also considering Bryant along with Brown University.
“I have never really played with my sister except over the summer playing with her high school team or during town when we were younger,” she said. “As of today I don’t have a college that I will be playing at but my dream is to play along side my sister at Bryant University in 2023.”
Bobby Wymes, Emma and Charlotte’s father, began coaching the two when they were in elementary school. They participated in town lacrosse programs for North Attleborough and Cumberland, RI, before joining their school teams.
Wymes said he is proud of his children and is fortunate enough to watch them grow up into the athletes they are today.
“They began to show interest in lacrosse between third and fourth grade,” he said. “That’s when I started to coach them. Now they’re heading off to college.”
