Simmons receives endorsement from Mass Coalition of Police

Earlier this month, state representative candidate John Simmons received an endorsement from the Massachusetts Coalition of Police. The coalition represents over 4,000 members serving in more than 157 cities and towns in Massachusetts. Simmons is running for state representative of the 14th Bristol District currently held by Betty Poirier. Earlier this year, Poirier announced she would not run for re-election after 20 years in the role.

Simmons is a member of the Town Council, a former member of the Election Commission and has coached youth sports and is a member of the Bristol Masonic Lodge. He is also a founding partner of the Law Office of Weiner Jackson and Simmons. Running against Simmons is fellow Town Councilor Adam Scanlon.

On Oct. 8, John Nelson, first vice president and legislative chairman of the coalition’s executive board, sent a letter to Simmons announcing the endorsement.

It is important to have your commitment to public safety for the citizens of the commonwealth,” wrote Nelson. “We look forward to your continued support of the Massachusetts Men and Women in Blue who serve across our state.”
