Businesses aren’t the only places planning for a reopening.
At the Town Council meeting on May 27, Town Manager Michael Borg outlined the three-phase plan for opening the doors of town services to the public. The first phase begins on June 1, and allows for access to municipal buildings on an appointment-only basis. Everyone in the building must wear face masks.
The fire department recently announced the Business Office would be open for appointments beginning June 1. The public is encouraged to use the online permitting process which is available at www.nattleboro.com/fire. Additionally, the department is planning a date of July 13 to re-start inspections that have been placed on hold.
The second phase will begin three weeks later and will allow for access to town buildings with limitations based on occupancy levels. Borg said that PPE and plexiglass dividers will be provided and shifts will be staggered to ensure employee and public health.
“We will move from the appointment schedule and have marks on the floor and signage,” said Borg.
The final phase calls for in-person board and commission meetings, with limits on the number of people that can be in the room. Lenore’s Pantry would be open to the public. Borg said these phases will depend on the town’s ability to keep the number of positive cases down
“If we keep and sustain the current trends, we can open,” he said.
