After years of sitting vacant, the former gas station at 135 Kelley Blvd. is showing signs of activity following the sale of the property earlier this summer.

Trees and brush have recently been cleared from the 1.43-acre property, which was purchased in June by Terri Paquette of Attleboro for $150,000, according to records filed with the Northern Bristol County Registry of Deeds. Registry records show the property was transferred to Paquette by Nicolas and Salam Ghaname in June. The deed identifies the property as commercial and includes the land and improvements to the site.

Plans for the property, which formerly operated as a Super Petroleum gas station, remain unclear. The site includes a former service station building and approximately 207 feet of frontage along Kelley Boulevard.

The sale followed years of efforts to market the vacant property. Commercial real estate records show the site had been listed for sale as far back as 2018.

Shortly before the June sale, Michael Paquette filed a Chapter 21E assessment request with the town for the property. The request, filed June 17, specifically sought a ā€œtank completion report along with an EPA report if one is on file.ā€

The application states that the town would review the request and, following completion of the assessment, notify the applicant and upload available documents to the permit record. The request itself does not indicate whether any environmental issues were identified at the property.Ā

Visible cleanup has since begun at the former station, with vegetation being cleared from the site.

The work comes as the property is also the subject of an active town violation. The town filed the violation July 27 for the Kelley Boulevard property, described in town records as ā€œexcessive junk and debris all over site.ā€

It is unclear whether the current cleanup is related to the violation. No publicly identified redevelopment proposal for the property has been confirmed.
