On Nov. 15, the North Attleborough High School girls soccer team gathered at the Elks Lodge in Attleboro to celebrate the conclusion of the season. The event, which marked a time of reflection and recognition, also included a poignant moment as the final Mallorie Lindo – Positive Attitude Scholarship was awarded.
The scholarship was established by NA United Alumni in 2013, in memory of Mallorie Lindo, a beloved teammate who tragically passed away from a rare form of epilepsy known as Lafora Disease. Throughout these years, the scholarship was awarded annually to one deserving player, as selected by the votes of the varsity team.
This year’s recipient, Kaylee Hennessey, was honored with a $2,500 scholarship, marking the 12th and final presentation of the award. The total amount awarded over the years exceeded $11,000.
Scott LaFond, vice president of NA United Alumni, had the honor of presenting the scholarship. He read a heartfelt statement from Jen Shattuck, Mallorie’s mother, who was unable to attend the ceremony. The scholarship was a testament to Mallorie’s legacy, and each recipient was recognized for not only their athletic ability but also for displaying the positive attitude and determination that Mallorie herself embodied.
