This holiday season, North Attleborough will launch a festive new event called the Hometown Holiday Celebration.
The event will begin on Sunday, Nov. 29, and will culminate on Dec. 6 with the annual Santa Parade.
One event, titled the “Holiday Lights Tour” will be about homes that have been decorated for the holiday season. In partnership with Downtown Associates of North Attleborough and NorthTV, the town will create an official Holiday Lights Tour map featuring participating homes.
The map will allow residents and visitors from neighboring communities to tour some of the town’s best holiday light displays while discovering local neighborhoods, businesses and all that North Attleborough has to offer.
“This is about more than holiday lights,” said Town Manager Michael Borg in an announcement. “It’s about bringing people together and inviting our neighbors from surrounding communities to come see what North Attleborough has to offer. When visitors tour our neighborhoods, stop downtown and shop at our local businesses, the whole town benefits. We’re proud of this community, and this is a great way to show it off.”
No matter the size of a home’s holiday lights, all residents are encouraged to participate in the seasonal fun.
Participating homes will receive numbered yard signs identifying their displays and allowing visitors to vote for their favorites. NorthTV will also capture outdoor video footage of participating homes to showcase the displays online, giving the broader community another opportunity to enjoy the tour.
Registration is free and opens on Sunday, Nov. 29. Participants are asked to have their homes decorated by Dec. 6, which is when the tour and voting will officially begin. Voting will continue through Dec. 18, with the winning displays being announced that day.
Additional events that will be taking place over this holiday season are:
- Sunday, Nov. 29: Leftover Turkey Trot 5K at the North Attleborough Town Common.
- Monday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 1: Holiday programming at Richards Memorial Library.
- Wednesday, Dec. 2: Downtown Tree Lighting and Kringle Mart in downtown North Attleborough.
- Thursday, Dec. 3: Free holiday concert featuring The Unlikely Strummers at Community Elementary School.
- Sunday, Dec. 6: Annual DANA Santa Parade in downtown North Attleborough.
“North Attleborough is a community that shows up for each other, and the holidays are when that shines brightest,” Borg said. “Our goal is simple: start a tradition families look forward to every year. Whether you decorate your home, come out to an event or support a local business, you’re part of it. My thanks to our town departments, community organizations and partners for making this first celebration happen. Register your home, join us and let’s make it a great one.”
Details about these events will be announced in the coming weeks. Residents interested in participating can learn more and register their homes at northattleborough.gov/holiday.
