North Attleborough Around Town: Summer services and concerts

Outdoor summer services at First Baptist Church

The First Baptist Church,75 Park St., North Attleborough, will hold Sunday services outdoors this summer at 9 a.m. on the Baptist Common. Bring a lawn chair or a chair will be provided. In the event of inclement weather, worship will be indoors. The last Sunday outside is expected to be Sept. 1. Then the services will move indoors as usual and the time will change to 10 a.m. Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month.

Lions Club to be at Attleboro Farmers Market 

The Southeastern Mass Paws of Comfort Lions Club (SEMAPOCLions) will be at the Attleboro Farmers Market on, Saturday, July 13, and Saturday, Aug. 17. There will be a dog (and paw-rents) watering station along with treats for dogs.

The club specializes in providing comfort dogs to area communities, visiting schools, senior centers, hospitals, and more. Volunteers are always needed.

The Lions collect redeemable bottles and cans, can tabs, eyeglasses (including sunglasses), and hearing aids. For pick-up, or to drop off, call Joyce at 401-487-0034 or Annmarie at 508-223-6039. To become a member, call Sabrina at (774) 282-0255.

Day, extended trips offered through Council on Aging

The following are day and extended trips being offered by the North Attleborough Council on Aging:

  • Aug. 7: Corvette Doo Wop, Lake Pearl. Cost is $85 pp and you must drive yourself.
  • Aug. 15: Castle in the Clouds & Lake Winnipsesaukee Cruise, cost is $199 per person
  • Aug. 19: Mt. Rushmore and Big Sky Yellowstone – $4,999/pp dbl./ $5,899/pp sng./ $4,899/pp quad
  • Sept. 10-12: Maine Escapes Bar Harbor – $749/pp dbl./ $$999/pp/sng
  • Sept. 18: Happy 2 Gather Tributes Simon & Garfunkel, Mamas & Papas, Turtles, Dave Clark 5. etc.
  • Lake Pearl – $89/pp – drive yourself
  • Sept. 20: Lake George  Balloon Festival – $699 pp/dbl. $899 pp/sng

Plainville Summer Concert Series

The Spirit of Plainville Summer Concert Series will begin on July 13. Bring a chair and come to Telford Park at 142 South St., Plainville, for a fun, free, family-friendly concert. All music starts at 6 p.m. Food trucks and ice cream will be available for purchase. Please check Spirit of Plainville Facebook page for more information and updates.

Congregational Church outdoor concert series

As part of its 150th anniversary celebration, Central Congregational Church is hosting a free outdoor summer concert series. The Church is located at 115 Commonwealth Avenue, Attleboro Falls. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair and snack bar items will be available for purchase. No pets, alcohol or smoking.

The concerts will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, and Aug. 21. Performers include Dave Valerio and Friend and Capt. Davet.
