North Attleborough Around Town: Rummage sale, children’s worship services, and historical society breakfast

Rummage sale and more at Baptist Church

The First Baptist Church, 75 Park St., North Attleborough, will hold an indoor rummage sale on Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. On sale will be clothing for babies to adults, as well as shoes, pocketbooks, bedding, linens and decorative pillows. Sewing supplies include books, fabric, and bolts of cloth, books. DVDs, sheet music, puzzles, gardening and household items, beds, bureaus, lamps, mirrors, TV stands, framed art work and more.

Saturday is Bag Day, $5 a bag, on selected items. Additional bags cost less. For questions and assistance, call the church office at 508-699-2434.

 

Worship services for children offered on selected Saturday evenings

Rev Kathy offers a simple, informal service geared for young children at both Grace Episcopal Church in North Attleborough and St John’s Episcopal Church in Franklin. The services include stories, crafts or other activities, easy fun songs, and a simple Eucharist (Communion) totaling about 30 minutes. All families are invited to join on Saturdays at 5 p.m.

Interfaith Teen Climate Change group continues monthly

On the first Sunday of each month, learn and plan advocacy toward slowing climate change to save the planet and for climate justice (mitigating the effects of climate change on poor and BIPOC communities) in North Attleborough, Franklin and beyond. All young people and adult advisors are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation. Join on Sunday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at St John’s Episcopal Church, 237 Pleasant St. in Franklin.

 

North Attleborough Historical Society May Breakfast

The North Attleborough Historical Society will hold its annual May Breakfast on Sunday, May 7, 8:30-11:30 a.m. The breakfast is served in the Little Red Schoolhouse, next door to the Woodcock Garrison house at 362 North Washington St.; the junction of Routes 1 and 1A in the north end of town.

The breakfast includes muffins and pies, sliced ham, scrambled eggs, home-fries, baked beans, juice, coffee and tea. Traditional New England breakfast includes a piece of pie. The cost of the breakfast is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for those under 5. For an additional $2, visit the omelet station. A tour of the historic Woodcock Garrison house, available from 9 a.m. until noon, is included in the price of the breakfast. Tickets are sold at the door. The proceeds from the May Breakfast funds go toward the society’s many endeavors to teach, support and preserve our local history.

 

Oldtown Church Pet Vaccination Clinic

The First Congregational Church UCC of North Attleborough (Oldtown Church) will hold its next pet vaccination clinic, for dogs and cats from 11 a.m.-12 noon on Saturday, April 29, at 675 Old Post Road, North Attleborough.  Please call/text 508-212-4774 or email eclavette@oldtownucc.org for information, fees and to make an appointment for vaccinations, heart-worm tests, or deworming.

Vaccinations and tests are individually priced, without additional clinic or other fees. Rhode Island residents and walk-ins are welcome. Pre-registration via phone or text is preferred.  Appropriate social distancing is encouraged. Pets will be received outside the building.

All cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on leashes, with muzzles as necessary.  Services will be provided by Dr. Peter Granville DVM. The entrance for the vaccination clinic is in back of the church, to the rear of the parking lot, follow the signs. Please remain in the vehicle until called.
