As the investigation into last weekend’s shooting at Brown University continues, Rhode Island State Police and the FBI have been in numerous surrounding communities, including North Attleborough.

This has led to considerable discourse on social media, and in response, NAPD Chief Richard McGuade issued a statement to reassure residents that there was no danger to the community.

“I want to emphasize there is no immediate threat to our community,” the chief stated on Wednesday. “Despite social media chatter, the suspect is not being sought in the Town of North Attleborough.”

The shooting left two students dead and nine injured at the Providence school. Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez Jr. has asked for the public’s help identifying a person shown in a photo who was seen with a person of interest.
