Halloween Scavenger Hunt—Find all the bats and pumpkins and get a prize.
Book Donation Drop-off—The Friends of the Richards Memorial Library Book Sale is Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17. Please help the Friends of the RML have a successful fundraiser by donating new and gently-used books. Donation drop-off begins Thursday, Oct. 8, at noon and runs through Thursday, Oct. 15. The SAFE Coalition Help Hours—The SAFE Coalition will be available in the library’s Middle Stack Room Quiet Study Area to meet with residents in need every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. This initiative is in partnership with The SAFE Coalition and the North Attleborough Health Department.
SAFE is a judgement-free community organization relentlessly committed to educating and supporting those affected by substance use disorder and mental health concerns across southeastern Massachusetts. Staffed by trusted, trained professionals and peer support volunteers, SAFE compassionately empowers individuals and their loved ones by breaking down barriers to treatment and emotional support in a way that inspires success on the journey to recovery.
Story time—Head to the downstairs meeting room for stories, songs and a simple craft. The program begins at 10 a.m. and is great for children ages 0-6.
Free tech help—Volunteer Ben Elliott, a computer support specialist, is hosting free IT hours at the library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you need one-on-one help with a laptop, smartphone, or general tech stuff, please schedule an appointment by registering at https://befreeit.org/ or ask library staff for help. Elliot also offers free tech help at Wrentham’s Fiske Public Library on Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Plainville Public Library on Fridays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

STEAM Cart—STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. There will be a different activity out each day. STEAM cart days are for children ages 3+ with an adult. Activities take place in the Children’s Room, are free play and not librarian led. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adult Book Group—This month’s read is “Yellowface,” by R. F. Kuang. Copies of the book will be available at the library about a month ahead of the meeting and located on designated shelves in the New Fiction area. The group meets at 1:30 p.m.
Pony Bead Spooky Spiders—Make a spider as spooky or sweet as you want it using pony beads. This is a drop-in program. Guardians are asked to stay in the room with their children. This program will be held from 3-6 p.m.
