REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)
DISTRICT-WIDE EXTERIOR DOOR REPLACEMENT PROJECT
North Attleborough Public Schools
1. Summary & Purpose
The North Attleborough School District is seeking competitive proposals from qualified
contractors for the complete removal, procurement, and installation of 18 exterior doors
and associated hardware across five (5) school facilities. The targeted doors are worn
beyond functional repair and pose security and safety risks in their current condition.
2. Scope of Work
The selected contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision
required to execute the following tasks:
● Demolition & Removal: Safely remove and dispose of existing door leaves,
frames (where specified), and hardware in compliance with local regulations.
● Procurement: Supply heavy-duty, commercial-grade exterior doors, frames, and
security-rated panic/lockset hardware designed for high-traffic educational
environments.
● Installation: Install new doors, weather-stripping, thresholds, and operational
hardware ensuring proper alignment, weather tightness, and integration with
school safety access standards.
● Badge Scanning Hardware: Expected to adapt to and integrate any existing
badge scanning hardware currently operating in the door
● Site Restoration: Clean up and restore each site to original condition upon
completion of work.
4. Technical Specifications & Requirements
● Door Assemblies: Heavy-duty insulated steel or aluminum narrow-stile doors
(matching existing aesthetics and code requirements).
● Hardware: Grade 1 panic hardware, heavy-duty continuous hinges, closers,
weather seals, and keying compatible with district master key systems.
● Compliance: All installations must comply with ADA accessibility guidelines,
state building codes, and school security standards.
5. Proposal Submission Requirements
Interested contractors must submit a detailed proposal including:
● Itemized cost breakdown (labor, materials, disposal fees per location).
● Estimated project timeline and lead times for door manufacturing.
● Proof of licensing, insurance, and past experience with municipal/school facility
projects of this nature.
● References from at least three (3) similar public work projects.
● An in-person, site visit and inspection of the doors listed for replacement will take
place on Tuesday, Oct 20, 10:00am starting at Community Elementary.
Attendance at this site visit and review is mandatory for any bid to be accepted
and considered.
● Bids must be submitted electronically via “OPEN GOV” and via sealed hardcopy
