North Attleborough firefighter Aidan McKinnon graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, according to an announcement from Fire Chief Christopher Coleman.

On Friday, March 20, firefighter McKinnon graduated alongside 44 firefighters from the 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program. His class, Class #BW38, was recognized during a graduation ceremony at the Department of Fire Services’ Bridgewater campus.

Upon his graduation, McKinnon will be assigned to B Platoon. He represents a continuation of family dedication to public safety, following his father’s career as a retired captain in East Providence.

“Congratulations to Firefighter McKinnon on his graduation,” Coleman said. “We are proud to see him continue his family’s dedication to service and wish him success in his career.”

At the academy, McKinnon received training in public fire education, hazardous material incident mitigation, flammable liquids, cancer awareness, stress management and self-rescue techniques. He was also trained in life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack.

Upon graduating, McKinnon now has his Firefighter I/II and Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations certifications.

The other graduates of Class #BW38 represented the fire departments of Bourne, Braintree, Cohasset, Duxbury, Fall River, Hanover, Harwich, Kingston, Milton, Provincetown, Rockland and Scituate.
