Thursday, Feb. 12

Story Time, Ages 0-7—Come to the downstairs meeting room for stories, songs and a simple craft. This event takes place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  

Free tech help—Volunteer Ben Elliott, a computer support specialist, is hosting free IT hours at the library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you need one-on-one help with a laptop, smartphone, or general tech stuff, please schedule an appointment by registering at https://befreeit.org/ or ask library staff for help.

Elliot also offers free tech help at Wrentham’s Fiske Public Library on Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Plainville Public Library on Fridays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Community Fiber Arts Circle—Come crochet, knit, embroider or weave with fellow fiber crafters. Beginners are welcome. There will be no direct teaching of fiber arts, but community guidance and sharing of ideas are greatly encouraged. Work on a project, make new friends, and bounce ideas off of each other. Open to all ages and experience levels (recommended for ages 12- adult). Please call the library (508)-699-0122 for more information. This event takes place at 3:30 p.m. in the meeting room.

Saturday, Feb. 14

STEAM Cart—STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. There will be a different activity out each day. STEAM cart days are for children ages 3+ with an adult. Activities take place in the Children’s Room, are free play and not librarian led. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 17

Play-doh Seashell Imprints—Have sensory fun with Play-doh seashells and stampers. This program is great for children ages 2 and older and begins at 10 a.m.

Bad Art Time—Get ready to make a mess and have a blast at Bad Art Time. Ages 7 and up are invited to create outrageously “bad” art using fun supplies – no skills required, just imagination, creativity, and a willingness to create. The goal is to provide a silly, surprising, and highly creative atmosphere with no pressure to make something “good.” This will be held at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room.

Chess and Checkers Club—Every first and third Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. in the children’s room. Children ages 6 and older, teens, and families with an understanding of the game are welcome. Chess will not be taught. Volunteers will be on hand to assist. Email Meredith at momalley@sailsinc.org with any questions. Please note that it is the library’s policy that an adult ages 15 and up remain with children ages 10 and under in the library.

Board of Library Trustees meeting—The monthly meeting of the Board of Library Trustees will be held at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 18

Make and Take Legos—Come make a Lego creation and then take it home. It’s recommend to bring a baseplate or box to bring home the creation. Suggested ages: 3+. This will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Kids Beaded Jewelry—Make something special with beads, for children ages 4 and older. This will be held from 2-5 p.m.

Thursday, Feb. 19

Minecraft Clay Bobblheads—Calling all young crafters and Minecraft fans ages 8-12. Sculpt a Minecraft-inspired bobblehead characters using air-dry clay. Create a separate head and body so the character’s head can swivel. Finish off thr piece with acrylic paint before taking it home. 

Registration is required. This program is generously by the Friends Of The Richards Memorial Library. This event will take place in the meeting room at 10 a.m. 

Chocolate Olympics—Celebrate the Winter Olympics with the Chocolate Olympics. Participants will rotate through chocolate-inspired challenge stations including candy sorting races, spoon balance relays, pudding Pictionary, guessing games, and more. Earn chocolate prizes along the way and cheer on finalists in a blindfolded chocolate taste-test showdown. Fun for teens ages 12 and older – no athletic skills required, just a love of chocolate and silliness. This will take place at 2 p.m. and can be registered for. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the library.
