The North Attleboro Redhawks AAU10U division baseball team recently won the super division championship, marking the end of a successful season.
Led by coach Rob Hosgood, the team competed against the top eight teams in New England and were crowned the winners at the end of the series, with a 3-2 win against the Norfolk Cannons on June 14.
“One of the unique things about our team is we are all kids from North Attleborough,” Hosgood said. “A lot of the teams that we play against in AAU, they’re comprised of multiple towns. I think it says a lot about our group of kids and the talent we have right here in North Attleborough.”
The team has been playing together for about three years now, with Hosgood emphasizing the strength of the 12-person lineup, both on and off the field.
“How they handle and deal with adversity off the field is something that we try to teach them on the field and take it into their daily lives with them,” Hosgood said.
Playing baseball throughout his life and even at the professional level, Hosgood stressed the importance of mental toughness.
“There’s a lot of life lessons, a lot of good that can come from playing organized sports,” Hosgood said.
RedHawks tryouts for next season are taking place in the upcoming weeks.
