Churchwood Gallery at The Preservation Framer will present an opening reception featuring the work of acclaimed abstract artist Margot Nimiroski on Saturday, May 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery is located at 31 North Washington St.

This event is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artist, view her expressive seascapes, and enjoy light refreshments.

Nimiroski was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, and spent her early years immersed in the natural beauty of Kansas and Illinois. She later found her artistic home on the Connecticut shoreline, where she now lives and paints in Branford, overlooking the Long Island Sound.

This exhibit holds a special connection to the local community— Nimiroski’s husband is a native of North Attleborough, making this return to the area both personal and celebratory.

“My childhood was spent in Kansas and Illinois… the waves created in the water and in the vast fields of corn and wheat are very similar. Both are beautiful and inspiring,” she said. “I have lived and boated on Long Island Sound for most of my adult life. I wake up each morning to a view of Branford Harbor and enjoy interpreting my love of the water into my paintings.”

Nimiroski’s work has been shown in numerous galleries, including the George Billis Gallery and Helmholz Fine Art, and is featured in prominent collections such as the Setai Hotel in New York City, the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital, and the Hyatt Hotel in Philadelphia.
