Ribbon-cutting at Richards Memorial Library celebrates renovations

In celebration of the near completion of the Richards Memorial Library renovation project, the library will host a rededication and ribbon-cutting ceremony following the Leftover Turkey Trot ahead of the Santa Parade. This will be held on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m.

Town Manager Borg, Library Director Clifton, Town Councilors and members from the Board of Library Trustees will deliver remarks at the ceremony. Representatives from the Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M. and Grand Lodge Masons will also be in attendance to participate in a special rededication ceremony.

The rededication ceremony will honor a cornerstone laid by the Masons on June 16, 1894, at the Richards Memorial Library. This cornerstone was documented in the solemn rites of the Ancient Free and Accepted Order of Masons of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and was uncovered by library staff during the renovation project.

The Richards Memorial Library Renovation Project began with window replacements. In Spring 2024, the Town Council voted to extend the scope of work to a comprehensive exterior repair project to secure the building’s envelope. This project was endorsed by the North Attleborough Historical Commission and approved by the Massachusetts Historical Commission.
