North Attleborough will host a Memorial Day ceremony this Saturday, May 25, with a parade and ceremonies for those who gave their lives in service to this country.

According to the town website, the ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. with a brief ceremony at the Common Solider Memorial at the Baptist Common. This will entail a prayer, presentation of arms, the Pledge of Allegiance and the lowering of flags before the parade departs from the common, down Washington Street and toward Barrows Veterans Memorial Park.

The parade will include the town’s police and fire departments’ Color Guards, state and local officials, and members of different organizations, including the Disabled American Veterans and its Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Auxiliary, Veterans Advisory Board, the Elks and more.

The memorial ceremony at Barrows will follow the parade and begin with an opening prayer from DAV Chaplain Manny Desourdy, followed by remarks from officials and a keynote address from retired Lt. Col. Greg Mayer. This ceremony will be the first for Melissa Bingham, who was appointed to be the new director of veterans services earlier this year.

For more information, call the Veterans Services’ Office at 508-699-0120.
