The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF), a non-profit dedicated to helping New England cancer patients and their families, worked with Stop & Shop and Poland Spring, to surprise Attleboro resident Christina Kincey with a gift at an event held at Stop & Shop in Dedham.
Kincey, who thought she was participating in a talk with JAF on the costs of cancer treatment before the surprise, has been undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer and was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. A wife and mother of three, the challenges of ongoing treatment placed a considerable strain on her family, both emotionally and financially. To ease the burden, JAF, Stop & Shop, and Poland Spring provided the family with a year’s worth of groceries and water.
“As the local grocery store it is so important to us that we give back to our community and neighbors in need. We hope Stop & Shop’s help in feeding Christina’s family will allow her to fully focus on her courageous journey to recovery,” said Jennifer Barr, Director of External Communications and Community Relations, Stop & Shop. “We are very proud to continue to support the Joe Andruzzi Foundation and their incredible mission to provide hope and financial assistance to families who are facing cancer.”
“Facing cancer is an incredibly tough journey, and Christina’s resilience through it all has been nothing short of inspiring,” said Joe Andruzzi, co-founder, and chief engagement officer of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. “We’re thankful to our partners at Stop & Shop and Poland Spring® for joining us in supporting Christina and her family during this critical time. It’s our collective hope that this gift can bring some relief and joy to their lives during this time.”
Both Stop & Shop and Poland Spring have also made a $25,000 donation to the foundation, which will bolster JAF’s mission to provide financial assistance to New England cancer patients, helping them cover essential living expenses during their treatment. JAF distributed $1.3 million in direct assistance in 2023, to help patients and their families throughout New England with financial assistance to pay for housing, transportation, utilities, food, insurance, and other household expenses.
