Around 10:20 a.m. on Friday morning, the North Attleborough area experienced a very minor earthquake.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake was measured at a magnitude of 4.7 near Whitehouse Station in New Jersey.

The East Coast is not used to earthquakes occurring and this may have come as a shock to some residents who felt the shaking in their homes earlier this morning.

On social media, many asked if there had in fact been an earthquake. A request for comment on the NSR Facebook page found that while some did experience some shaking, others completely missed it.
