Patrick Maranda has been arraigned at Waltham District Court for charges stemming from a robbery of Vallee Jewelers in Franklin.

According to information posted by Franklin Police, Maranda, 32, of North Attleborough, was charged with breaking and entering during the nighttime for a felony, larceny from a building, and vandalizing property. He was arraigned at Wrentham District Court on Aug. 11.

An arrest warrant for Maranda was issued on Aug. 10, the statement read. Working with the North Attleborough Police, Maranda was taken into custody and brought back to Franklin Police for processing that same day.

On July 31 at approximately 10:13 p.m. the Franklin Police were notified of an alarm at Vallee Jewelers located at 68 Main St. Officers observed the front door had been smashed and requested more units to the scene. They made entry to the building to check for suspects and found none. There was major damage to several display cases inside the store, and jewelry on the floor. Initial estimates place the losses in excess of $10,000.

The Franklin Police K9 Unit was dispatched to scene and began a track which led down several streets and ultimately appeared to end where the suspect entered a vehicle and left the area. Surveillance footage was released to the public to assist in identifying the suspect.

The Franklin Police Department is aware that much attention was drawn to the clothing the suspect was wearing in the video,” the statement read. “The company, who self-identified publicly as Reilly Tree and Landscape of Plainville came forward early in the investigation and worked with our investigators to identify the individual. Their cooperation assisted this investigation tremendously.”
