From Dec. 26-Jan. 2, the North Attleborough Fire Department responded to 87 calls for emergency service.
- 63 were EMS in nature with 51 of these requiring advanced life support
- 4 motor vehicle collisions with reported injuries
- 4 carbon monoxide detector activations
- 2 natural gas leak investigations
The remaining responses were due to a variety of otherwise unspecified reasons. On Dec. 29, a working fire assignment was sent to Eddy Street for a reported structure fire. No injuries were reported.
The department has noticed an increase in the number of illegal burning responses and would again like to urge residents to be aware of the rules and regulations for open burning. The permitted burning season runs from January through April and entails several safety requirements. The burning of yard debris (leaves, brush), construction materials, or rubbish is against fire regulations no matter the time of year. Brush fires can accidentally start from many sources and with the increased fire load added during autumn, everyone should remain vigilant of the dangers present and be safe.
