When you can’t get to the party, the party comes to you.
Family and friends of Allyson and Jacob Galley of North Attleborough surprised the young couple with a mobile baby shower on Sunday, April 19. Friends and family drove by the couple’s new home on Sleepy Hollow Circle, beeping their horns and cheering.
Karen Murray, Allyson’s mother, said the baby shower for the two was supposed to be held on Saturday at the Stone Ridge Tavern, but was canceled due to the pandemic and the closure of non-essential businesses. She said the idea for the new celebration came about after seeing similar events for children’s birthdays.
“We talked about what we could do and came up with this idea,” said Murray.
Several vehicles were parked at the Martin School while party-goers attached balloons and signs reading “It’s a Boy” or “Baby Galley.” Murray said the theme of the party was Peter Pan, and one vehicle had a sign which read, “Little boys should never be sent to bed, they always wake up a day older,” a line from the story. Lauren Fortune, the new child’s godmother, said the couple also did a Zoom call to show the presents they received.
“It was something we could surprise them with,” she said.
