Backpack collection in AugustĀ
The Richards Memorial Library, as part of its 125th anniversary year-long celebration, will be collecting new school backpacks in support of State Rep. Betty Poirierās annual Supply Sack Drive. The backpacks will be added to Poirierās collection, which is done on behalf of foster children throughout the state.Ā
The Supply Sack program is designed to āassist our very vulnerable children entering the Foster Care/DCF Program,ā according to Poirier. “Many of these children enter this program without anything ā just the clothes on their backs; therefore, it is my hope to be able to give these children/young adults something as they newly enter the program ā something that they can say is theirs.ā
Please bring new backpacks (all sizes and designs welcome) to the Circulation Desk at the library. The backpacks will then be given to Poirierās program to be filled with school supplies and personal care items. The library drive will end Aug. 31.Ā
Library offers Hoopla, other digital borrowing services
Hoopla offers eBooks, audiobooks, comics, music, movies and television episodes to watch on computers, tablets, or smart devices (using the hoopla library app.) Users are limited to five loans a month, but there is no waiting for a copy to become available.Ā
While not everything is available through hoopla, combining this with OverDrive and RBLdigital provides a lot of choices. Go toĀ https://www.rmlonline.org/hoopla-digital-libraryĀ for full details about loans.Ā
