North Attleborough Firefighter Shane Dillon graduates from Massachusetts academy 

North Attleborough Firefighter Shane Dillon has graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.

On Friday, March 29, firefighter Dillon graduated alongside 33 firefighters from the 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program. His class, Class #319, was recognized during a graduation ceremony at the Department of Fire Services’ Stowe campus.

Upon his graduation, Dillon will be assigned to D Platoon. Dillon is the son of retired North Attleborough Firefighter Mike Dillon.

“I would like to congratulate Firefighter Dillon upon his graduation from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy,” Fire Chief Christopher Coleman said. “Our department is extremely proud to see him following in his dad’s footsteps and continuing the family legacy of serving the North Attleborough community. We wish him all the best as he embarks on this new journey.”

At the academy, Dillon received training in public fire education, hazardous material incident mitigation, flammable liquids, cancer awareness, stress management and self-rescue techniques. He was also trained in life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack.

Upon graduating, Dillon now has his Firefighter I/II and Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations certifications.

The other graduates of Class #319 represented the fire departments of Acton, Concord, Dracut, Dudley, Everett, Falmouth, Franklin, Haverhill, Lexington, Middleborough, Needham, Norwood, Reading, Salem, Saugus, Walpole, Westborough, Westford and Winthrop
