What experience do you bring to the table that would be of use to the position you are running for?
I earned degrees in political science and management from Bridgewater State University and Lesley University, respectively, and I am prepared for both the business side of the Electric Department such as budgeting and human resources issues as well as long-term planning and goal setting.
My time on the Cable Advisory Board has given me insight into the inner-workings of the various town departments and how the public perceives the town departments.
In the past year, while researching my recent book, I have gained insight into production of energy through traditional means and growing sources of renewable energy and the public’s interest in renewable energy credits – information that could be useful in the oversight of the department.
Helpful, but to a lesser degree, I am a former employee of Cambridge Energy Research Associates (now part of another company) where I ran the IT department and occasionally consulted on research projects there. In addition, I have done some contract work for North Attleborough Electric in the past, consulting with their IT department regarding computer security. Both of these were more than 15 years ago.
What three issues do you wish to focus on if elected?
The first issue to focus on will be to maintain and, if possible, improve upon the sterling reputation for service and reliability that the Electric Department continues to enjoy. This is to the credit of previous and current board members.
Secondly, I would like to increase the amount of electricity that NAED purchases from non-carbon or non-carbon renewable sources. This will encourage wholesalers to get more of their power from cleaner producers.
Finally I would like to further encourage the generation of electricity using assets the town already owns, such as the use of solar panels on otherwise unused town land to generate electricity. I understand there are plans to erect panels on the old landfill site, and this is commendable. We also could be installing more panels on other land and rooftops in town. The town has lost an opportunity in the past to utilize a resource that has since gone to waste. This is something that should not be repeated.

What experience do you bring to the table that would be of use to the position you are running for?
I worked for the Electric Department for 33 years. My experience as an employee gives me the ability to make decision on the budget and to vote on policies for the department.
What three issues do you wish to focus on if elected?
Continue looking out for the best interest of the ratepayers and the department. Provide clean, reliable, safe and affordable electric. Keeping rates as low as possible. Continue improving the electrical infrastructure.
