A familiar name in North Attleborough sports is now proudly on display at the high school baseball field.
The DiNardo Family and The Gary Dinardo Memorial Scholarship Fund recently announced that the baseball field had been renovated and renamed The Gary DiNardo Memorial Baseball Stadium, nicknamed “The Bull.”
“We will forever be grateful to the DiNardo Family for their contributions to our baseball program, school and community and we feel that it is very important to help honor his name and legacy by sharing the following details and photos,” said the organization in a statement.
Garrett William “Gary” DiNardo, known as “The Bull,” was born on Nov. 10, 1950. He was a three-sport athlete— baseball, basketball, and football—at North Attleborough High School. He graduated in 1968 and then attended UMass Amherst , where he played baseball. In 2004, he was inducted into the Attleboro Area High School Football Hall of Fame. Gary’s elder son Nick, played baseball and football during his high school career at NAHS, while his younger son Jesse, flourished as a performing artist during his high school career.
Gary DiNardo loved North Attleborough and after his passing on March 19, 2009, at the age of 58, his family began raising funds to give back to the town in his name. To date, they have awarded over $56,000 in scholarships to NAHS graduates to further their education.
