The Town of North Attleborough and North Attleborough Fire Department are encouraging residents to prepare and remain alert as a coastal storm is expected to bring rain and gusty winds to southern new england heading into the weekend.
As of Wednesday, Sept. 23, forecasts continue to develop regarding the storm and its potential impacts. Residents are encouraged to monitor the latest forecasts and advisories as conditions may change.
Ahead of the storm, the town and Fire Department remind residents to take the following precautions:
- Avoid flooded roadways. Never attempt to drive through a flooded road. Remember: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
- Stay away from downed wires. Never touch or approach a downed utility wire. Always assume downed wires are live and dangerous, and call 911 to report them.
- Prepare for possible power outages. Charge phones and other essential devices ahead of the storm and make sure flashlights, batteries and other basic emergency supplies are readily available.
- Secure outdoor items. Bring inside or secure outdoor furniture, decorations and other loose objects that could be moved by strong winds.
- Consider your household’s needs. Make sure you have necessary medications and supplies on hand, and include pets and household members who may require additional assistance in your emergency planning.
- Stay informed. Continue monitoring local weather forecasts and advisories, as well as updates from the Town of North Attleborough and North Attleborough Fire Department through the town website and social media pages.
