Matthew Robert Mayo, 57, of North Attleboro and Canton, passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2026, surrounded with love from his wife and daughters after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 22, 1968, and raised in Osterville, he graduated Barnstable High School Class of 1986. For over 40 years Matthew “Matt” worked in the Shipping/Receiving/Logistics Industry.
Matt was happiest spending time with family and friends, at home and on Cape Cod. His superpower was spotting any form of wildlife, before anyone else – a true gift. He loved to cook, to grill, to eat; he loved music, and all Boston sports with football being his favorite and playoff hockey a close 2nd. Most importantly, he enjoyed life with his loving wife and his beautiful daughters. He was a proud “Girl Dad” teaching them how to fish, go crabbing, and golf; he encouraged them to dance, cheerlead, and play softball – never missing a recital, competition or game.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1011 North Attleboro, MA; and the Edward J. Beatty American Legion Post #24 Canton, MA.
Beloved husband and soulmate of Maura (Kilgallon) Mayo, and father of twin daughters Madison and Mackenzie Mayo of North Attleboro. Son of the late Barbara (Chase) and Robert “Skippy” Mayo. Brother of Patricia and her husband Don McWilliams and Meredith Mayo McClane of FL, the late Rick Mayo and survived by his sister-in-law Annette (Ippolito) of Canton, and Steve Mayo of TN. Son-in-law of the late Madeline and James Kilgallon. Brother-in-law of Bruce and Karen Kilgallon of Pembroke, and Scott Kilgallon of MO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and his kitties Magic, Mittens and Monty.
Interment will be private.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 30th from 12-4PM, at the Elks, 52 Bulfinch Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760
