The North Attleborough Town Hall is hosting the fourth annual Turkey Trot on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m., with participant check-in at 9:30 a.m.

The 5k will begin at the Town Hall and eventually end in the downtown residential area. The event costs $35, with participants encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy.

All proceeds and toys will go to the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children’s “Christmas is for Kids” Program. In addition, the first 550 participants will receive a runner’s bib, T-shirt, and a finisher’s medal. The top three men and top three women will receive special medals.

The event is intended to bring community members and their families together after Thanksgiving and in preparation for the holiday season. In recent years, the race has raised $33,000 and enough toys to fill a town’s fire station pick truck.

“This year, we expanded our charitable reach to support the Friends of the North Attleborough Council on Aging as well as the ‘Christmas is for Kids’ program,” said Taylor O’Neil, communications and information officer for the town.

“Signing up to participate in the race is a way to support our efforts,” O’Neil added. “We also continue to welcome sponsors and individual donors, with all contributions going directly to the two charities. Anyone wishing to get involved or make a donation is encouraged to contact Assistant Town Manager Antonio Morabito at amorabito@nattleboro.com.”

Additionally, community participants can expect a DJ at the starting line and several tables set up during the event. O’Neil added that participation has grown from 400 to 500 over the years, and hopes to see it continue to grow.
