North Attleborough, Plainville to host Veterans Day ceremony

A Veterans Day ceremony and bridge dedication will be held, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, beginning at 11 a.m. The Veterans Day ceremony will take place at Veterans Memorial Park on 43 South Washington St., at 11 a.m. 

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Community School Auditorium, located at 45 South Washington St.

Community members are invited to join town and state officials in honoring veterans at the upcoming regional ceremony. The event will begin with an opening prayer led by Pastor Dave Meunier from Plainville Baptist Church. Following the prayer, there will be performances by the North Attleborough High School Band, as well as both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Special guest speakers will include state Rep. Adam Scanlon, Brian Kelly, chair of the Plainville Board of Selectmen, and North Attleborogh Town Manager Borg.

Command Sgt. Major Gregg Yanchuk of the 79th Troop Command will deliver the keynote address, followed by a benediction offered by Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chaplain Manny Desourdy to close out the ceremony.

Jeffrey R. Plante Bridge Dedication Ceremony 

Community members are invited to the Fisher Street bridge at 1:30 p.m. to take part in a dedication ceremony in honor of AIC Jeffrey R. Plante.

Special guests will include Scanlon, Town Councilor Daniel Donovan, Department of Public Works Chair Mike Thompson and members of the Plante family. During the ceremony, the town will unveil a new plaque commemorating AIC Plante’s service.

Fisher Street will be temporarily closed from River Street to East Street from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the ceremony. This event will take place regardless of the weather.
