Feeney receives award from Marine Trades Association

The Massachusetts Marine Trades Association (MMTA) has recognized state Sen. Paul Feeney as the 2024 MMTA Legislator of the Year.

During a recent Business of Boating (BOB) conference held at The Lakeview Pavilion in Foxboro, Feeney was applauded for his active role in supporting the recreational boating industry in Massachusetts, his work in helping assist in workforce solutions, and support of technical schools around the state.

“Thank you to the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association for honoring me with the recognition of ‘2024 Legislator of the Year’ at their annual Business of Boating Conference today in Foxborough,” Feeney said in a statement. “As Senate Co-Chair of the Legislative Boating Caucus, I look forward to attending this conference each year to meet with industry leaders representing some of Massachusetts’s most active and well-established organizations and companies. Each industry faces unique challenges, yet one remains consistent among them: significant skilled worker shortages. MMTA is a leader in addressing the workforce gap and has devoted resources and time to partnering with schools throughout Massachusetts to bridge the gap and provide employment opportunities. I am grateful to them for their advocacy and efforts.”

MMTA Executive Director Randall Lyons presented the award. Feeney was recognized for helping to support training and growth within the boating industry to address the need for additional skilled employees. As a Boating Caucus Co-Chair for the MMTA, Feeney has continued to support workforce efforts to collaborate with secondary, post-secondary, and adult education programs statewide for training within the marine trades industry and matching job seekers with well-paying career opportunities.
