Snowman and gnome scavenger hunt—Find all of the hidden snowmen and gnomes on the first floor of the library and receive a small prize. This takes place all day in the first floor of the library.
Story Time—Come to the downstairs meeting room for stories, songs and a simple craft. This event takes place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Free tech help—Volunteer Ben Elliott, a computer support specialist, is hosting free IT hours at the library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you need one-on-one help with a laptop, smartphone, or general tech stuff, please schedule an appointment by registering at https://befreeit.org/ or ask library staff for help.
Elliot also offers free tech help at Wrentham’s Fiske Public Library on Tuesdays, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Plainville Public Library on Fridays, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Community Fiber Arts Circle—Come crochet, knit, embroider, weave, etc. with fellow fiber crafters. Beginners welcome. There will be no direct teaching of fiber arts, but community guidance and sharing of ideas are greatly encouraged. Work on your latest project, make new friends, and bounce ideas off of each other.
Open to all ages and experience levels (recommended for ages 12- adult). Please call the library (508)-699-0122 for more information. This will be held in the Meeting Room at 5:30 p.m.

STEAM Cart—STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. There will be a different activity out each day. STEAM cart days are for children ages 3+ with an adult. Activities take place in the Children’s Room, are free play and not librarian led. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The library will be closed in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Tuesday, Jan. 20

Board of Trustees—The Library Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m.
Chess and Checkers Club—The Chess and Checkers Club for ages 6+, teens and families with an understanding of the game. Chess will not be taught and volunteers will be on-hand to assist. Email Meredith at momalley@sailsinc.org with any questions. It is the library’s policy that an adult ages 15 years and older remain with children ages 10 and under a the library. No registration requires.

Youth Advisory Council—The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) at the Richards Memorial Library is made up of teens between the ages of 13 and 17 who love to read and share opinions and who would like to be more involved in the library. YAC teens help shape the Young Adult book collection and space, discussing and helping choose books to add to the collection, brainstorming and helping plan programs, putting up displays, etc. The meeting will be in the Meeting Room at 6:30 p.m.

Morse code bracelets—With just a few colors of beads and using Morse code language, participants can create special messages in the bracelets they will design during this program. All materials will be provided. This program is for adults only and will take place in the meeting room at 6:30 p.m.
