North Attleborough High School Principal Peter Haviland has been named the district’s next assistant superintendent, according to Superintendent Jon Antonucci Friday.
Haviland will succeed Assistant Superintendent Michelle McKeon, who earlier this year accepted the position of Mansfield School Superintendent.
“Over the past eight years, Pete has been a driving force in guiding North Attleborough High School through a period of meaningful growth and transformation,” wrote Antonucci in the announcement. “Working closely with a talented team of faculty and staff, he has helped foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.”
The School Committee met virtually on Friday, April 11, to vote on Antonucci’s recommendation that Haviland be appointed to the position.
“I’m confident that Pete’s experience, leadership, and deep commitment to our students and educators will make him an outstanding assistant superintendent—and a valuable partner as we continue to strengthen our schools and support every member of our school community, PK–12+,” wrote Antonucci. “Throughout the search process, it was clear just how deeply invested Pete is in the North Attleborough community. Whether he’s working with teachers, students, families, or community partners, Pete brings a sense of unity, pride, and shared responsibility to everything he does. These qualities will be instrumental to his success in this new role.”
