Twenty-four candidates running for upcoming Town Election

With less than two months to go until North Attleborough’s April 1 Annual Town Election, 24 residents have submitted nomination papers in a race with 16 positions available.

The deadline to turn in nomination papers for a spot on the ballot has passed. Residents had until 5 p.m on Feb. 11 to return their election papers.

Current Town Councilors John Costello, Daniel Donovan, Mark Gould Jr., Justin Pare, John Simmons, Andrea Slobogan and Patricia St. Pierre all returned their nomination papers, seeking another two-year term.

The list of hopefuls running for a Town Council seat are David Cannata Jr., Cara Caranci, Donald Cerrone, Leo Glennon, Troy Goodman, Michael Gould Jr., Zach Johnson, James Lang, Keith Lapointe, Kevin McCarthy, Joseph Rezza and Laura Wagner.

Darius Gregory and Andrew Shanahan are the two council members not running for re-election.

The two School Committee members up for re-election this year, David Chee and Ethan Hamilton, did not turn in election papers.

There are three candidates seeking one of these open spots – Lyndsey Benharris, Colleen Endres and Cari Orsi.

Steven Cabral and Paul Rofino will run uncontested for their seats on the Electric Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission, respectively.

All nine Town Council seats are voted on bi-annually have openings, followed by the School Committee, Board of Public Works and Electric Commission, with two openings each. The Parks & Recreation Commission has one open seat.
