At the beginning of the Dec. 3 School Committee meeting, members commended the winners of the December Spotlight Awards.
These awards are given to staff members who have been nominated by parents, students or coworkers. This month’s winners include: Kathleen Santos, Michael Lacasse, Keri Hinton and Maxwell Kinsey
Santos, a special education teacher at Amvet Boulevard School, received two nominations from parents, one of which reads, “I can confidently say that Ms. Santos has made a lifetime impact on my daughter’s growth and happiness as a student at Amvet. We are so thankful to her.”
Lacasse, a social studies teacher at North Attleborough Middle School, also received two nominations. Both from a parent or guardian. One of his nominations reads, “Mike is always positive with the kids and instills good values and I know my kids have benefitted from having him as a teacher and a coach. Mike is certainly appreciated in this town!”
Hinton, a special education bus driver for North Attleborough High School, received a heartwarming nomination from a parent or guardian. It reads, “Every day, she goes above and beyond to ensure that each child in her care feels safe, supported, and read for the day…Her calm demeanor and unwavering support make a meaningful difference in their daily routines, and she truly exemplifies what it means to care for and serve our special needs community.”
Kinney, a science teacher at North Attleborough High School, was unable to attend the school committee meeting. However, his nomination was still read aloud by Superintendent Jon Antonucci. It reads, “He is doing the important work of blowing their minds open and exposing them to opportunity.”
