Town Manager Michael Borg shared Chief Richard McQuade’s sentiments about Special Police Officer Richard Rogers during a recent meeting of the Town Council.
Rogers, 72, was killed in a crash while riding his bicycle south along South Washington Street (Route 1A). While attempting to turn into a CVS parking lot, Rogers was struck by a vehicle heading in the same direction, police reported.
Rogers had recently retired from the North Attleboro Police Department on July 1 of this year, following a dedicated career of service. In addition to his role as an officer, Rogers was also a retired nurse from Wrentham State Hospital.
At the Oct. 16 council meeting, North Attleborough Police Chief Richard McQuade, whose words were shared by Borg, reflected on Rogers’ legacy and impact on the community.
“He was the type of person that everybody liked, and you would be hard-pressed to find anyone to say anything bad about him,” commented McQuade. “The town is at a loss.”
Rogers, known for his professionalism and commitment to fitness, was admired for his positive attitude and dedication. His sudden passing has left a deep void in both the police department and the North Attleborough community.
