The North Attleborough Fire Department hosted a pinning ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 10, to recognize promotions and new hires within the department.

The ceremony was held at the Veterans Park gazebo. During the ceremony, two firefighters were promoted, eight were pinned and three were presented with services awards.

The ceremony began with a procession of the Fire Department Honor Guard and the Rhode Island Professional Firefighters Pipes and Drums. Deputy Chief Michael Chabot led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance before Chief Christopher Coleman delivered opening remarks. State Sen. Paul Feeney and state Rep. Adam Scanlon also spoke at the ceremony. Town Clerk Patricia McNeilly then swore in officers and firefighters.

Scott McGuire was sworn into his new role as fire captain, while Diego DaSilva was sworn into the role of fire lieutenant. Firefighters Mitchell Green, Eli Pitts, Jason Sulinski, Devin Conroy, Andrew Cook, Brittany Cunha, Alex Pratt and Myles Messier were all  sworn in and pinned by loved ones. Firefighters Sarah Ellis and Shane Dillon will be sworn in at a later date as they could not attend the ceremony due to attending paramedic school.

The department also recognized the February 2024 retirement of Ronald Burns.

“We would like to thank all those who joined us to celebrate our promotions and new hires,” Coleman said. “Last night was a very special moment for the men and women of our department as we recognized their hard work and dedication to the North Attleborough community.”
