Before beginning our sixth year in January, we’d like to look back at some of our highlights in 2019. Our second annual Awards Ceremony was held at Goochie’s Cafe in February. The Unlikely Strummers entertained us and Goochie’s was voted the best luncheon restaurant for the second time.
April included a walk at Cape Cod Canal. Springtime included a cruise along the Blackstone River on the Blackstone Explorer, a special tour of North Attleborough’s Adamsdale School House and a visit to Lincoln State Park. The summer saw us at Roger Williams Park, a picnic at World War I Park, a guided tour of the Mt Hope Cemetery Arboretum, and a visit to Martha’s Vineyard.
In the fall we celebrated the state’s Walking Challenge with entertainment supplied by two combined ukulele groups: the Unlikely Strummers and the Elm Street Strummers. We also caught a play at the Newport Playhouse, took another cruise on the Blackstone Explorer to view the fall foliage in Cumberland, and toured the Mansfield Airport.
What’s planned for 2020? Watch this space and join us every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Center at 204 Elm St.
