On a cold Friday morning, several students at the Falls School arrived at the school in the early hours to assemble baskets of food to give needy families a happy Thanksgiving.
For several years, the Falls School PTO has collected instant mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, baking mixes, canned vegetables, and more for the annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive. This year, 20 baskets were filled to the brim, wrapped in plastic, and tied with a colorful bow, and later donated to Lenore’s Pantry.
āIt’s my favorite event,ā said Donna Dayon, a member of the PTO
On the morning of Friday, Nov. 22, the children excitedly assembled the baskets, making sure that they all had one or two of each ingredient in each basket. According to Beth Farias, a member of the PTO and coordinator for the event, classes are assigned to a different part of a traditional Thanksgiving meal and items are donated by Falls students, families, and faculty.
